Season 2 Bout 2 recap - HOLY CRAP
Riot Girls 100, Bad Reputations 99

Lamb Baste-Her and Foxy Fubar
Wow. What a game.
The Riot Girls rolled into Minoru arena on the afternoon of May 31 looking well-worn from their notoriously tireless training. Quiet, focused and subdude, they warmed up a bit, then disappeared into the bowels of the arena, undoubtedly to talk strategy. The Bad Reps, on the other hand, bounced in the door like a bunch of Tiggers in blue dresess, spunky and chatty and totally jazzed about their first game as a team.
The first period worried the Bad Reps’ fans, with the score gap consitently growing and growing right off the first whistle. The Riot Girls shut down the Bad Reps’ offense over and over. We watched relentless huge hits and notable skills in the front of the pack by Foxy Fubar, 8 Mean Wheeler and team captain Apocoliz Now, and the period ended with them more than doubling the points of the Bad Reps. Yikes.
In the second period (after a fabulous performance from the BC Spartans Cheer & Dance Team), the Riot Girls continued with their defensive strategy, but the Bad Reps seemed to finally get their bearings. Relying heavily on the mad skills of jammers Rollergirl and Lamb Baste-Her, they managed to close the gap in the score to a respectable difference by the end of the second.
The difference between the first and the third periods were like night and day. The Bad Reps finally kicked their defensive line up into gear - vetran pivot Chica Bomb took control in the front and Candy Scrapple and break-out rookie Skwurlee cleaned up the trash in the back. The Riot Girls didn’t give up control that easily, and they pulled out some amazing offense courtesy of jammers Luludemon, Trixi Trippin-Chix and rookie Avi-Hater. Despite two HUGE point-scoring jams from Rollergirl (hundreds of fans collectively held their breaths as the points were added up in the very last jam), it wasn’t quite enough to make up the point spread left over from the first period, and the Riot Girls held on by their fingernails and (barely) won the game 100 to 99. And I’m spent.
Other highlights: drunk a**hole getting efficently escorted out the door by fans, refs and a former player’s girlfriend while the security guards watched, mystery mexican wrestler mascot for the Riot Girls (who WAS that tall drink of water?), tasty score cowgirl Lotta Dirty, and adept/sexy hosting by the Faster Pussycats. Oh ya, and the fans. We have the best derby fans in the world, hands down!
